Nike Free technology has formed the bedrock of many of the sportswear giant’s sneakers for over the
past decade. Now, in light of new studies that show how the foot expands and contracts through impact and takeoff, the Swoosh has re-
engineered the technology to along a splaying, auxetic midsole that absorbs shock while accounting for the dual-plane expansion in foot size
during foot strike. The multi-directional outsole also flexes both linearly while running, and multi-directionally in training to give the
athlete a better degree of control and flexibility.
One of Nike’s latest innovations in its Nike Free RN Flyknit model is next up to receive the Swoosh
’s popular multicolor theme. With the multicolored Flyknit Racer returning May 13, this low cut running sneaker hosts contrasting lateral
and medial sides to switch things up a bit. Its upper may remind you of the “Oreo” edition of Nike’s Flyknit Racer, but its multicolored
knit is seen on the left and right shoes’ respective medial sides. Additionally, each side will display a different colored Swoosh logo —
white on the lateral side and black on its medial side.
Givenchy’s Ricardo Tisci pairs up with NikeLab for another take on the
Nike Free Train Force Flyknit. These mid-tops are drenched in all-black with accented blue branding
on the heel tab, while a full Flyknit upper and mid-rise collar ensure a comfortable and secure fit. Additional details include Nike’s Free
motion sole for dynamic movement and a sturdy dual-density midsole. Tisci’s signature branding along the insoles and heel tab rounds out the
design. This athletic men’s Flyknit silhouette will be available online .
Nike’s popular Flyknit Technology is now making its way into a training division. Also incorporating the Swoosh’s Free sole,
the Nike Free Flyknit Chukka sneaker sports a heel tab and plain white Swoosh to complete its
minimal look. You’ll find Flyknit on the silhouette’s lateral and medial sides with thick structural piping for flexibility while training.
It’s hinted that Riccardo Tisci will also collaborate with the model for a special NikeLab launch in the near future, so stay tuned for
those along with the above pictured colorways to release soon.
