i like the idea of a news website, but i think it would be better to make everything from scratch rather than alter a real site's content.

maybe a fake website could be the collaboration.. maybe it tells a collection of weird stories, but it's also the story of the internet collaborators who put the site together and then vanished without a trace, or suffered some hideous fate... and it's, like, the only edition ever to come out, and, like, one of us temple scholars happened upon it through shady means, and, like, we're exposing it at our own peril, because we're heroic like that.

or something.
which reminds me, wtf is this?

if you don't have a huge screen, when a large picture is loaded by itself in explorer, it might auto-size itself to your screen, and therefore you can't see shit. to get the pic to resize, hover your mouse over it until that picture shows up, then click on it to get the picture to normal-size itself (100% zoom).

i just used the Statesman's page because i live here...and for the layout. changing the rest of it shouldn't be a chore. fake newspaper name, fake celebrities and fake mundane news items, fake URL, no biggie. i was thinking of making a couple of these and then stopping, and maybe we could link them together on a separate page with a claim that "now these pages are off the internet. they're not not in the newspaper archive, or even on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine" or something like that.

like i said...i just kind of threw it together to see if that was the right sort of thing. kind of a rough draft/feeler gauge. *L*

i have about 90 free meg on my band website, and i can do subdomains, so i can host and code HTML if a collaboration site is what it turns out to be.

Nah, the latest IE (which automatically worked its way onto my machine somehow, I figured it was some univeral upgrade) causes the cursor to turn into a magnifying glass when you mouse over a picture that it's resized, then you click anywhere with the magnifying glass cursor to return the picture to its original size.

But yeah, I like the idea of a news website. We could maybe do a mock-up of the BBC news site or something, hosted on the Temple here, with links to fake news articles, with things like eye-witness accounts or sketches or the like.
