I just thought I'd stop by to reccomend Donald Tyson's Necronomicon - I wasn't initially taken by it but now I think it's the business. I hear that he has also published two other Necronomicon books - the novel and the grimoire. I'm not fussed about the former but can't wait to buy a copy of the latter after looking at it in waterstones in Bradford while I was at INFEST.

the reason being that it sends me mad reading it, and it gives me nightmares. I have a copy I stole from a library when I was younger. I couldn't bear to take it back lest some other unfortunate soul be plagued by the horrifying revelations therin...

There seems to be a lot of these self made Necronomicons but what is the substance of their contents?

Its a 'real' book. You can buy it, and you will get it shipped to you...

And I will get some extra cash sent to me in a month or two.
I compiled it from some online necronomicons and put it up to make some extra money.
Sold 23 of them so far....Thats $230 dollars in about a year.

What does it look like inside?

Tyson's Necronomicon is the first in his trilogy. It is subtitled "The Wanderings of Alhazred " and is supposedly the actual grimore itself, though at a mere 269pgs. it's much smaller than it should be. Inside is mostly text with the occasional illustration, such as the seal of Azathoth and the hieroglyphics on the black pillar of Dagon,
The second book is called Alhazred-author of the Necronomicon, and for anyone who hasn't read this I couldn't recommend it more. It's a novel depicting the Mad Arab's early years, before he retired to Damascus to pen his dreaded tome. Tyson's prose is excellent, and he has a firm understanding of the mythos.
Third in the set is the Necronomicon Tarot box. Nothing much to this. The cards are illustrated by Anne Stokes while Tyson includes a companion booklet detailing the significance of each card.

Still waiting for word on Dan O'Bannon's Necronomicon.

Yeah, Tyson's necronomicon is the best. Not got alhazred yet, but I have his recent "griomoire of the necronomicon" which is brilliant, especially if you know anything about the occult principle of tetragrammaton or kabballah along with more than a smattering of astrology.
