Will you be portraying or merely narrating the account of Cthulhu in R'lyeh?

we will be narrating the account, leaving it just as the book portrays it, it will be more about the voyage of the ship that stumbled upon Rl'yeh. if we feel confident enough to, we might make it a modern twist, but its something i personally look down on.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of modernising fiction or drama.
But good luck, I hope you get a finished product you can be proud of.

thanks, i guess we wont be modernizing it, so then all we need is a Special effects artist so we can animate Cthulhu. any takers?

What you could do is hold a few still pictures sort of half visible through the narrator (it's hard to describe, you know when the two images are both there but not blended or merged?), but not animated. Might give it more of a macabre effect, rather than an all out horror. Hell, even use mocked-up stone carvings or idols, so as to further avoid the shock-horror of big Squiddy.

well i wanna show Cthulhu as a full animation, or a tiny puppet handcrafted, we gotta do the scene where Cthulhu is Chasing after the boat clear accross the Pacific. say, anyone know what would make a good looking Cthulhu puppet or somethin?

Not the plush Cthulhu hand puppet, anyway. I've yet to scare anyone with it.
Maybe you could computer animate it?

I've got it!
You take a squid carcass, scoop out the guts, and slide it over a labrador retriever's head. You then have the lab jump in a pool and chase a radio controlled boat.
Now, here's the important part:
The dog has to be wearing one of those collars that gives it an electric shock every time it barks. Reconfigure the collar so that it dishes out, say, umm . . . 10 times the normal voltage at the press of a remote button. That way, while Fido is swimming, every time you push the button, the squid's tentacles will flail about in a lifelike manner.
If you use a young, healthy dog, it might even live through the process long enough for a good seven or eight zaps. Just make sure that you put "No animals were harmed during the filming of this movie" to keep people from asking what happened to the dog.

Do it in Flash - it works for the Brothers Chaps.
And that's E.A. - even I don't know when he's joking.
