good lord, how many kinds of pieces does lego make now? i want that sternum-bursting-with-viscera piece they used for the tentacle impaling.

Wow, that was amazing. Was it my imagination, or was Dr. Who and his Tardis in that little panorama?

Very nice work...

I think it just might have been the Dr. ;)

This? It's just a shrub of some sort, I think it actually came with the underwater stuff from the mid 90s.

And that's not just the Dr, there's a Dalek with him.

After a little research, I found the piece in question ;)

It is a red plant found in the 1998 'Stingray Stormer' kit. (it may be in others.. who knows). This set also contains the octopus.

Here is a picture of the set:

It must be in others, as I have one lying about somewhere and I've never owned that set. But it's from that range, alright, I remember that much.

at some point they just went overboard making pieces. isn't it supposed to be about forcing your child to be creative with uninteresting components? at least that's what it was.. *sniff* ..for me

Same here. I built a multi-level castle a while back with shiteloads of trapdoors and hidden rooms and stuff out of little more than the basic blocks and a few fiddly bits I'd ammassed throughout the years.

Yeah,
it just takes all the fun out of it if you can't force your child to have fun...
