Done entirely without any photographic references. Honest. And no live models either, despite the rumors that you might hear from the neighbors.

Awesome work! Good to finally see the ghouls represented as something other than standard-fare skeleton beasts.

I really like the light and shadow you used. The background really works well with this, and the creature fits in it perfectly, even though it is kind of empty.
The way the light is pouring down into what looks to be an otherwise dark area gives me the subterranian feel, which is perfect given the story.
Most, though not all, animals prefer fresh meat, and that decapitated head looks like it has been down there a good while. I might have liked to see the head a bit 'fresher', perhaps with a more defined look of shock frozen in his expression revealing his absolute terror of seeing this monster which would soon end his life.
Great work

Heh, I hear you. I intentionally left a lot of empty space to make it feel like a large, empty room with nothing else to look at but the ghoul.
I figured the head looks that way because he already chewed the eyes out first, since they are such a delicacy and all. That, and I didn't want the severed head to compete for attention as the main focus.
I'm glad you appreciate the light and shadow in this. I tried to keep the light directed straight down from above.

Nice!
Some of the best Mythos art I have seen...
I love the empty feel the whole thing has.
"Abandon all hope ye who enter here."
It seems to say.

Bravissimo - you've captured that whole gritty, dirty feel that the original story had. It wouldn't have worked as well any other way, I don't think. Very well done, I must say.

Or, maybe, for the rest of us altarless folk, more paintings.

I have done a few sculptures, and some paintings. I plan on first doing some more paintings and then a few more sculptures. I have a few ideas in my head that I need to get onto canvas first.
