I happened across a strange type of text from Easter Island called "Rongorongo". Its composed of really strange looking pictographs. When I look at the text, I can't help but think of Cthulhu-esque beings.

who we, kemosabe?
this is something i came across in my 'chaparral heights' research. there's a theory that the natives of southern california (the only native american seafarers) were contacted by polynesians far in advance of the spanish missionaries. some of the artwork of these california people bear resemblance to rongorongo pictographs, like figures with radiating 'appendages' on their heads. this is all going into another story, at least in my private mental screening room
