The Chicago based National Marine Manufacturers Association is the leading trade association in North America for manufacturers of recreational boats and marine products. NMMA also manages Discover Boating, the national boating awareness program focused on the boating experience and providing a resource to explore the benefits, fun, and accessibility of the boating lifestyle.

Some of the primary responsibilities are public relations and social media efforts surrounding the national Discover Boating marketing campaign during the peak summer boating season. Content creation, management and execution of Discover Boating's social media efforts on Twitter. Includes crafting tweets, building followers, monitoring and responding to Twitter engagements, providing updates on Twitter results and general boating conversations. Oversight of Discover Boating's Instagram account, including posting boating photos/captions, real time monitoring and engagement with followers. Development and maintenance of media lists to cultivate relationships with relevant local, regional and national journalists and bloggers. Assist with media relations efforts to generate news coverage for boating throughout the summer. Writing and editing of Discover Boating press materials. Onsite press room support at the Progressive Insurance Chicago In Water Boat Show.

What you will learn: social media expertise in Twitter and Instagram; tracking and reporting social media analytics via HootSuite, CisionPoint, Radian 6, Twitter Ads; development of content calendars, as well as written media materials; and creation of media lists in CisionPoint.

Qualifications: Have social media experience, including Twitter and Instagram. Have strong writing skills. Be able to manage multiple PR projects and report status to supervisor on a timely basis. Have an understanding of PR measurement and reporting. Be able to work well individually and as part of a team in a fast paced environment. Have an interest in boating and outdoor recreation. Received, or working towards, a bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications or other related marketing field. The Boys Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee seeks a dynamic, self starter to asset with event planning efforts. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual interested in learning more about nonprofit fundraising, event planning and volunteer management. The internship offers exciting hands on experience and the opportunity to gain new skills.

Some of the tasks include, but are not limited: assist with solicitation of sponsors; create and coordinate the drafting/distribution of event promotional materials, help management event volunteers and coordinate event logistics; update guest registration, seating information and related data entry; collaborate with Club staff/sites and partners/sponsors to ensure a meaningful experience for both event attendees and Boys Girls Clubs; Pandora Cow Charm assist with insuring special events content on the BGCGM website and social media sites are continually updated; assist with donor acknowledgement, invoices and follow up efforts; act as a facilitator for planning committee meetings including agenda distribution and taking minutes.

This is a volunteer internship and unpaid.

Qualifications: Completed or working towards a college degree, preferably with an interest in non profit development and event planning. Must be computer literate, including MS Word and Excel, and possess a firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space. Previous internship or related experience is a plus. Professional demeanor and outstanding phone etiquette. Ability to communicate in a highly professional manner with donors, press and community contacts. Self motivated, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, detail oriented, superior abilities to multi task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Recent graduates are not eligible for this program. Rising Juniors or above. Students finishing their first year of school as of June 2014 are not eligible for the summer 2014 program. Be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship by the company. Must be available to work on site in Milwaukee, WI from June 2, 2014 until August 22, 2014. All students must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship. Previous work experience in an office environment preferred. Previous internship experience preferred.
