One day I decided to pick up a copy of "The Dunwich Horror and others" from my library and it all went nuts from there. I've read every story in that book, and the mountains of madness. I want to get started on the Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath soon. But... beyond the books, I hunger for more! I want to send my mind into the depths of oblivion with more Mythos knowledge! Ehehe... actually, I'd really just like to find some people who know about Lovecraft and dig the mythos. I'm going to school at UGA in Athens right now... anyone out there got a Lovecraftian book club thing or anything like that going on?

Hey folks
I'm new to the forum! I first got started on Lovecraft through methods I'm not sure of. I seem to recall seeing his name every now and then in books I read, along with references to Cthulhu. I also remember seing various references to things like "The Plains of Leng" and "Yog-Sothoth" in various Stephen King stories. Oddly enough, those few quips filled me with more nameless dread and horror than the rest of the thousand pages of those books

If you actually want to sort of wander around in Lovecraft's stories, you could always check out CthulhuMud
To connect, just point your favorite MUD client (or telnet program) to cm.foxpaws.net on port 8889
Its all text based, but its the closest you can be to actually walking around in Arkham and such.
I would suggest downloading a copy of FireBolt to use as your MUD client.

I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about. Could you elaborate?nortonew wrote:If you actually want to sort of wander around in Lovecraft's stories, you could always check out CthulhuMud

It is an online text-based multi-player role playing game based on the work of Lovecraft and other authors of the Cthulhu Mythos

Games
A bit off topic I know, sorry, but I just thought of somthing. Have you guys seen Cthulhu live? It is a live action horror game put out by Chaosium. Shows you how to develop plots, sets, costums and god knows what else.and, its a hell of a lot of fun. Saw a game run here in Kansas city. You would not belive the time and effort put into these things. Some of the effects are a bit cheese, but, its all good.
