The Temple of Dagon is proud to announce two new additions to the Featured Writers section: Vito del Valle, and Stefano Magliocco. These two individuals have very different styles, and we are very happy to have them here!
You will also find a new story up by Eric Norton titled “The Sidereal Prophetess”, as well as three new images from Gwabryel. Keep them coming guys! 🙂
As you have probably noticed, there have been a few changes to the Temple of Dagon. The layout, menu system, and structure of the site have been updated. Rest assured, all of the fiction, artwork, and other resources are still here. In fact, more has been added, and much more will be added in the future. This site is now powered by the WordPress content management system which will not only allow for faster (and more frequent) site updates, but also a better news and reviews system, and so much more. The forums are still here of course, as well as the public archives for fan-submitted fiction. I hope you enjoy the new and improved Temple of Dagon as much as I do! Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fhtagn!
I will be transitioning everything over in the next few days, so do not be alarmed if something looks strange 🙂
As a side note, the reviews have been moved to their new location – the reviews category on the main page.
One thing that struck me as I listened to this lot was Thin Lizzy. In fact it was Thin Lizzy playing stoner rock very well. There are times when Eli Eckhert sounds like he is chanelling Phil Lynott. This is not a bad thing however; helping this CD to be quite a good listen. Unlike so many bands trying to ape QOTSA and the “desert sound” this bunch have brought some much needed originality to the murky depths of stoner rock. Read »
When I think of Japanese monsters, I tend to envision rubber-suited Kaiju fare, or Anime, with its big-eyed schoolgirls with even bigger guns blazing away at tentacled things with lots of eyes and mouths. And fun as they elements may be, they hardly suggest the lurking, brooding terrors of H. P. Lovecraft! Read »
As you can gather from the title this lot have written most of an album inspired by the mythos of HP Lovecraft. The last song “Torso,” is a short blast of pure gore metal, complete with a sound clip to kick it off. The rest is Slayer-esque black/death metal, delivered with speed and menace. Alas, the mastering of this CD is patchy and some of the music really gets lost in the mix. Read »
Yet another ambiant CD based on the works of HP Lovecraft. There seems to be a real glut of Cthulhu-inspired music at the moment. Guess the Great Old One is stiring again and affecting musician’s minds. He needs to try harder. This is an all instrumental album that I assume was done to accompany the reading (and for some of us writing) of mythos tales. Read »
With any movie purporting to be based on Lovecraft there is for the aficionado a sense of dread in the background of all viewings of the latest attempt to film the basically unfilmable. Thus it was when my friend called me up and told me he had seen a new HPL movie in the store entitled Dagon. Read »
The adventures of the Sage of Wales and his companions continue in this collection of tales by Andrew Ian Dodge. This 239 page book includes three short stories as well as a short novel by this noted Mythos inspired author.
This book has been chosen to kick off the new review section here at the Temple of Dagon. Andrew has been a part of the community here for a good while now and we are very proud to have him, as well as very excited for this release. Although you will find a quote from me on the back of the book, and a mention of this site, it is my intention to give a fully unbiased review of this work. Read »
